Coalition Wins

After a lengthy grind of Australia’s election campaign, Scott Morrison claims a slight victory over the Labor party. Australians are set for three years of liberal government leadership. “So what could this for our nation?”

With the Coalition and Labor offering our voters a few different options prior the election, with both parties agreeing on a few policies. “Here’s what to know now if you have been living under a rock, the liberal is back in power.”

Firstly, there will be starting to count to determine the outcome of senates’ seats in the lower house and the more complex half-senate election. The outcomes have been declared by the Electoral Commission, the names of the winners will be certified and to be attached to the election.

This will be then returned to the governor-general for House of Representatives seats and the state governor for a state’s representatives in the Senate.

Taxes effect

Tax offsets means young families will receive a tax cut up to $1080 dollars every ATO tax return for workers, who are making between $48,000 to $90,000, beginning from July of next year. Workers receiving less pay then the figures above, would still receive tax cuts, but of course, slightly less than promised under Labor.

As for those who are earning over $180,000 those Australians will be avoiding higher taxation proposed by Labor. With the Coalition’s promise to continue legislated tax cuts over the coming three years.

Housing and Empty Nesters

The government introduced a brand new $500 million First Home Loan Deposit scheme for First home purchasers to provide some assistance to get those people’s foot into the door.  This will give the first 10,000 first home buyers the opportunity to buy a home with only a 5 percent deposit, as opposite to the usual 20 percent.

As for the empty Nesters, this group will be able to retain their ability to gain-back franking credit cash refunds on Australian share dividends. The Labor party had intentions of doing away with this.

Healthy

The liberal’s government Morrison made major pledges to mental health funding prior to the election, promising a $461 million for a suicide prevention strategy and youth mental health, along with the added mental health funding for whom has faced an encounter   with natural disasters, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Coalition have also announced the ALP’s pledge to lift the Medicare rebate freeze by July 1. In addition, multiple choices of new drugs will be subsided, and the state of Victoria has promised a $496 million medical Facilities’ package.

Climate Change

As for the Climate change policy was a major speaking point at the 2019 election, and remains to be a disruptive point for the Liberals. The party won’t be taking any major change over the next three years during the rain of Coalition. In the light of that, Mr Morrison have outlined a $2 billion climate solution package plan which is being rolled out over the next 15 years following.

Early childhood, Childcare, Schools and Education

No changes will be made to the governments Child Care Subsidy package, from July 2018, and no new policies in this sector were flagged before the election. Although $453 million has been earmarked to secure another year of preschool funding for four-year-olds.

With the current Liberal party still holding on to the commitments with Malcolm Turnbull’s $23.5 billion commitment to schools over 10 years.

In consideration to high education the Morrison government has promised a $525 million towards encouraging 80,000 apprenticeships, vocational education and training.

The Coalition has allocated $94 million towards scholarships for students to want to study at regional universities.

Work

Crackdowns on evasive employers will spell criminal punishments for the exploitation of workers, and there will also be a national registry scheme for dodgy labour hire firms.
