Michael Kodari, Founder and CEO of Kosec (Kodari Securities), is one of Australia’s most consistent, top-performing investors. A philanthropist and a prominent expert in the stock market, CNBC Asia has referred him to as “the brightest 21st century entrepreneur in wealth management” and “a trailblazer within the Australian stock market”. Featured on Australia’s Channel 7 as the “Money Expert” on the weekly Sunday program Elevator Pitch, he is recognised internationally by governments as one of the world’s best. He was the guest of honour for the Inside China’s Future event, selected from the funds management industry by the Chinese government, held in Sydney in April 2014.

With a strong background in funds management and stockbroking, Michael has worked with some of Australia’s most successful value investors and consulted to leading financial institutions. Michael writes for Australia’s key financial publications and is regularly interviewed by various media including Australian Financial Review, Business Review Weekly, Sydney Morning Herald, Sky News – Switzer, Your Money Your Call, Market Moves and Lunch Money. He has also conducted seminars for the Australian Investors Association and contributes to Australian Shareholders’ Association as well as Kaplan Education.

Laurence works on all elements of investments, research, media, marketing, recruitment, professional development and strategy. He chairs the daily Investment Committee meetings, edits and approves the publication of research from the KOSEC Media Centre and runs internship programmes with approved university partners including UNSW.

His market commentary has been published in Kodari Magazine and Ben & Co Magazine. Alongside print media, Laurence has appeared on Sky News Business as a guest host, panellist and live-cross commentator. In addition to live TV he has also appeared on live national radio for 2ue and for the audio podcasts of Your Money Your Call. Having lectured extensively in the UK and China, Laurence delivers the keynote speeches for Kodari Conferences in venues across Sydney.

Laurence was educated at St Olave’s Grammar School, a leading selective public school in Greater London and then St Catherine’s College Oxford University. There he read Politics, Philosophy and Economics, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2004 and a Master’s degree in 2008. As an undergraduate Laurence sat on the St Catherine’s JCR committee, wrote for the Cherwell newspaper and debated within the Oxford Union. Having relocated to Sydney with his wife Helen the couple became parents to Charles in 2018 and live in Cammeray.

Anthony D’Paul is responsible for Business Development across both the trading and research divisions.

Anthony has broad and extensive financial services experience having previously held CEO positions at two Australian share advisory and corporate finance firms where he also made guest appearances on Sky Business News, his stock market commentary has been quoted in leading news and print media publications, whilst as a senior equity advisor he had circa $100m Funds Under Advice. He has also held roles in both accounting and tax.

Anthony was educated at Carey Baptist Grammar School and went on to complete his Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) at UTS Sydney. He received an education scholarship for excellence in performance and is passionate about sharing this knowledge with the rest of the team

Brent grew up in Sydney and was educated at Newington College where as well as his studies excelled at water polo. He began his career in business development where his knowledge has been quoted and published in university textbooks. At 26 he started a successful high-end designer fashion business which he owned and operated through both physical retail space and online platforms. While running the business he performed all day to day operations including negotiating contracts, implementing and executing marketing campaigns as well as HR, accounting, social media and promotional activities.

Brent is also extremely well-travelled both overseas and here in our own backyard which has seen him develop an acute sense of empathy and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Having always had a passion for the equities market he has personally day traded on the ASX for years. He now brings a truly impressive level of business acumen and life experience to Kodari Securities and shares this experience with colleagues and clients alike.

Dealing Assistants

Throughout the calendar year, there are thousands of trading hours where the ASX exchange is open for business. Our dealing assistants, as a team, monitor the market every minute it is open. They discuss company announcements, broker calls and monitor price action in order to answer questions and provide general advice about Kodari Securities research and analysis.

Will comes from a business management background. Along with being an active contributor to the monthly reports he is also completing his MBA at the Australian Institute of Business.

Before KOSEC Will established and developed businesses in NZ, Australia and the UK. Will studied with Kaplan Professional, gaining qualifications in margin lending, superannuation and securities.

As a member of the KOSEC Investment Committee, Will has an excellent understanding of technical analysis and is uses technical indicators to pick the right timer to buy and sell to ensure your money is working hard for you.

Christopher joined KOSEC in November after completing a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and Economics, at the University of Sydney.

He has worked in a mid-tier law firm in Sydney, operating in the company’s administration and finance departments. Christopher has a strong interest in following the stock

market, continually monitoring the broader global markets and individual stocks of the Australian market.

Christopher’s extra-curricular activities also allow him to excel in his role. He has developed strong leadership skills through continued engagement in sporting teams and involvement in the community. Understanding and determination are integral to Christopher’s daily role at KOSEC, whether it be the provision of general advice to clients, communication with colleagues or research.

His particular areas of interest include portfolio and risk management, macroeconomics and psychology of investors.

Mitchell Harmer has achieved success not only in the academic world at the University of Sydney, but has also seen the results of hard work and perseverance pay off in his personal and sporting pursuits.

Having obtained a well-rounded upbringing wherein he achieved distinguished results in the sporting arena, Mitchell received a professional scholarship to the University of Sydney’s National AFL team. Whilst juggling the responsibilities of full time tertiary study and sporting commitments, Mitchell’s energy and drive to gain real world practical experience saw him continuously hold down a variety of part time roles.

Demonstrating his ability to analyse an industry and then persist in a highly competitive cut throat environment, Mitchell managed to self-finance his own progression through his University studies. Solely off his own initiative and drive, he did this by gaining access to the highly competitive field of professional modelling. Without industry contacts, he built a portfolio and managed to sell his potential into two modelling agencies across a period of four years. Eventually being invited to join Chadwick’s agency and representing major Australian brands such as David Jones, Myer, GQ and Cosmo Magazine to name a few.

Having completed his Bachelors’ Degree through the University of Sydney, major in Economics, his personality, commercial intelligence and competitive nature has offered KOSEC a raw resource that has benefitting and thrived in the financial environment.

Through attending AGMs, conferences and contacting investor relations, the research team works to collate, analyse and evaluate all of the market movements which could influence the values and current prices of the top 300 listed businesses on the ASX by market capitalisation. Sean Toor

Research Analyst

Sean sits on the investment committee at Kosec and is Editor-in-Chief of the company’s monthly report. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Applied Finance, specialising in Investments, from the Sydney Graduate School of Management at Western Sydney University. He graduated with his name on the Dean’s merit list for academic excellence for both Masters degrees.

Prior to his role at KOSEC, Sean analysed equities and fixed-income securities in Australia and New Zealand, where he was able to develop his skills in research, technical analysis and evaluation. He’s responsible for research, investments, dealing and operations at KOSEC and plays a key role in the success and distribution of the monthly report.

Sean honed his leadership skills as a teenager, becoming an academic prefect at one of the leading private schools in India and representing his state at the national cricket championships. He was named captain of the Under 19s side, giving him the skills to critically analyse situations and remain calm under pressure.

Roger Haidar

Roger Haidar has a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Commerce, majoring in Applied Finance

and Economics. He is a skilled analyst with experience in financial modelling and valuation, attained through previous roles in corporate advisory and equity research at numerous boutique investment banks. He is furthering his education in financial markets with a Master of Finance at the University of Technology Sydney.

Since joining KOSEC, Roger has analysed macroeconomic trends, company announcements and created valuation models for ASX 300 businesses. Roger sits on the investment committee at KOSEC and also creates portfolio reviews for clients and contributes to all reports and publications.

Roger’s career and education has allowed him to develop strong interpersonal skills as well as a demonstrated ability to think laterally and assess the impact of economic data on the stock market. Roger has also developed leadership and organisational skills through his most recent role directing the transfer of the equity research team and processes from APP Securities to Everblu Capital.

Erika has contributed to the market wrap, investment dealing meetings and the monthly reports. She also looks after the PR and communication side of KODARI magazine. Erika has a successful track record in developing high impact marketing strategies for luxury brands that drive consumer engagement and recruitment.

Before moving to Australia from United Kingdom, Erika gained media exposure in both modelling and on screen acting. With a love for social media, Erika is passionate about her work in the industry. Managing the social media platforms for KOSEC, Erika has successfully developed and implemented creative and clever campaigns on all of our platforms thus revolutionising our social media presence with a streamline of new and exciting content. Erika delights in not just ensuring the office runs smoothly but that everyone is as happy as can be with her bright and bubbly personality! Erika is involved in supporting local charities, good causes and a lover of dogs. Erika holds a BA in English and Drama from the University of Hull.

Leonora graduated with an honours Bachelor of Education Degree, from Dublin City University. Only two years after qualifying from college, Leonora took on the role of acting Vice Principal. Leonora has also utilised her leadership skills to encourage and support young people to become entrepreneurs, through her involvement in The Junior Entrepreneur Programme.
Leonora has also been involved in volunteer work for several charities including Trocaire, Nurture Africa and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In 2012 Leonora volunteered as a teacher in Uganda, with Nurture Africa. Leonora’s experience volunteering in Uganda inspired her to empower young people to participate in the Our World Irish Aid Awards
which enables the youth of today to explore each of The United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development
and challenges them to think of possible solutions for these wider world issues.

Leonora has worked in the retail sector from a young age, helping out with sales, customer relations and finances in a family run business. Leonora has experience in sales, finance and the public sector. Leonora has an excellent eye for detail and her creative nature has her perfectly situated on the marketing team here at KOSEC, where she delights in creating new designs and sharing creative marketing ideas with our staff. Some of Leonora’s responsibilities

and duties at KOSEC include: conducting and collating findings from market research, assisting in the creation and distribution of subscriber emails and information, reporting on marketing successes by monitoring key metrics, creating content for social media channels, as well as keeping abreast of industry trends and compelling marketing campaigns.

Rafh graduated with a Bachelor of Human Resource Management and a Masters of Risk Management from the University of New South Wales.

Rafh has local and international experience in human resources and sales, which enable her to understand the fundamentals of planning, communication, problem solving, and project management. Rafh sits as KOSEC’s Head of Risk and Compliance, undertaking risk minimisation activities, to ensure the smooth of daily operation of trading, account establishment and general advice communication given to clients. She applies her leadership, positivity and attention to details skills into practice in a daily basis.

Rafh’s has particular interest in the implementation of motivation strategies for the broader workplace, and aiding in the growth development of her peers. Volunteering, fundraising and giving back to the community is an activity she enjoy doing outside of the office.

Natalie Galloway, Brand Ambassador for Kodari Magazine, is a leading business student and finance/marketing major who has grown up in a finance family, managing her own stocks/investments from a young age. She has been working in the finance industry from the age of 19, and is also experienced in marketing, social media, and promotions. Natalie’s enjoyment of communication is reflected in her ability to connect with clients and partners, and

justifies her passion for international travel, which has provided her with the expertise of foreign cultures and design.
